The Criminal Law Section of the Lafayette Bar is hosting a section meeting and CLE on Thursday, February 2nd. The meeting will begin at 3:30 PM and the CLE will follow: "You Are Being Tracked: Fourth Amendment Application to Search of Location Data Following Carpenter v. United States." Presented by Chase Manuel. Summary: A review of the prior US Supreme Court precedents (Olmstead v. U.S.; Katz v. U.S.; and U.S. v. Jones) regarding the requirement of law enforcement to first obtain a warrant prior to invasion of an individual's privacy interests and an in depth review of the recent case of Carpenter v United States, the impact of the Carpenter decision to present location tracking technology, and a discussion of possible application of the new Katz-Carpenter Test to emerging License Plate Reader technology. *Click HERE to register to attend*
