H.E.L.P. Program

If you need a certified birth certificate to help gain employment, the Homeless Experience Legal Protection or H.E.L.P. Program can work with you.  H.E.L.P assists area homeless individuals with obtaining certified copies of birth certificates.  These documents help to prove your identity when trying to find shelter and apply for jobs.

H.E.L.P. was established after hurricanes Katrina and Rita, when the influx of people who were left without identification and shelter highlighted a large need in the community.

This program takes place the first and third Friday of every month at the Monsignor Sigur Center from 8:30 - 9:30 AM. Everyone will be seen during this time and no appointment necessary. No one is available to offer legal advice. The Monsignor Sigur Center is located at 401 St. John Street, Lafayette, LA 70501. If you have questions, you may call the Lafayette Bar office at (337) 237-4700.
